Digital Media Development: 3D Environments (game and heritage)

About

Greetings! My name is Nikita Sineiko and I’m a second-year student at Winchester University, studying Digital Media Development: 3D Environments (game & heritage). I’ve always loved to express my creativity in various ways, and using Blender has been one of the best ways to do that! To me, Blender is a dream builder, giving me the ability to create anything with no limitations. My University course has helped me develop my Blender skills in so many ways, whilst allowing me to take part in group projects that help build my teamwork, organisation, and communication skills!

Hobbies & Interests

In my spare time, I like to play MMO RPG’s such as TERA, allowing me to explore a big open world. These kinds of games really do interest me as the stories are always so well thought out, and the landscape are always designed in such an amazing fantasy style, giving me the opportunity to explore a whole new world!

When going outside, I like to take my DSLR camera sometimes to take some interesting shots that could tell a story. I usually focus on documentary, street and architecture photography, hoping to capture an interesting moment in time that could tell a whole story, whether it’s a historic / modern building or people. Having taken lots of photos, it has helped me develop my Photoshop and Lightroom skills, fixing up assets in the photo in photoshop, and adjusting the light in Lightroom.

Background

My passion to peruse creativity really began in secondary school when I took Product Design as one of my GCSE’s. This showed me various programs such as Sketch Up that allowed me to create scaled 3D models of houses that we designed ourselves. This made me interested in becoming an Architect as I loved working in 3D and quite enjoyed various aspects architecture when doing research. Link to my Cabin Project

Having gained an interest in creating things, I decided to continue my study at Brockenhurst Collage. Here I took upon 3 A level courses: Photography, Graphic Design, & Media Studies. I met many people who also wanted to peruse a creative career using their own unique skills, which motivated me into trying my best to see my potential. After 2 years of A levels, I received high grades of AAB.

Why Winchester University & 3D Development

When looking at Uni courses, I never knew what I wanted to pursue, despite my various interests in various creative topics. However, Winchester University had showed me there was so much more in developing ones creative skill sets. I never had any experience with Blender; however, 3D Environments instantly captured my attention. The course offered 3D development skills in different areas of the course, and due to my love for open worlds and 3D overall, I decided to take a shot at expanding my knowledge, and potentially perusing 3D into a career.
